Well placed urns, benches, containers, bird baths, statuary and other objects allow the eye to take a refreshing break from moving among flowers and foliage. I love using large pottery pieces or antique urns in the garden. The objects provide a dynamic change, not just from living to inanimate but also positive textural tension. Picture large, puckered, blue leafed hosta leaning on a silver gazing ball. Or Japanese Painted Ferns cascading over a moss-covered stone stature. Or wispy white baby’s breath billowing around a black iron obelisk. Artist Stephen Procter offers amazing vessels that can be left outside year-round. Stephenprocter.com
